December 1st is observed as the World AIDS day. According to the data reflected on the official website of the National Centre for AIDS Prevention (NCAP) of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia (RA), since 1988 till December 1, 2015 there about 2214 Armenian citizens registered as HIV infected. Over 334 of them have been added during 2014, which means the number has enormously increased compared with previous years. HIV stands for Human Immunodeficiency Virus while AIDS stands for Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome. AIDS is the final stage, which develops in people diagnosed with HIV positive.
