According to the data provided by the organizations dealing with bird migration and nesting site issues, stork is the most vulnerable bird species that nest on electricity poles.
“Residents of Surenavan and Armash villages tell that stork nests on electricity poles often burn down. Fifteen such cases have been registered during the previous year,” says Silva Adamyan, Chairwoman of “Centre for Bird Lovers” NGO. Bird lovers from Albania, Russia and Germany have come together to discuss and find new ways to make stork nesting sites more safe. On the occasion of Bird Migration Day, “Centre for Bird Lovers” NGO along with a group of volunteers have cleaned up about 60 stork nests in Armash and Surenavan villages, as well as ring-necked more than 35 young storks in order to control them and to learn more about the problems.
