Liberation of Shushi

000Liberation of Shushi is one of the glorious victories in Armenian history. It was crucial for Karabakhi War because right from Shushi Azeri forces were attacking Stepanakert and adjacent areas. Despite the overwhelming strength of enemy, On May 9 Shushi was finally completely liberated due to the courage and resilience of Armenian military forces. Contribution and bravery of Monte Melkonyan – talented and skilled commander, the national hero of Armenia, while defending Nagorno Karabakh and forming the Armenian army, was, in fact, inestimable. Indeed, due to his heroism and professionalism, the east arm of the NKR was turned into an impregnable fortress. His name only was enough to inspire the fellow friends, and to foster fear and panic in the enemy camp at the same time. Armenian women played a vital role in the Artsakhi War. ”More than 300 Armenian women struggled for the liberation of Karabakh: 42 of them fall, and 40 returned handicapped,” says Aida Serobyan, participant of Karabakh war, chairwoman of Women’s NGO.
