Problems of people with disabilities in Armenia
There is a common perception among many people according to which December 3rd is the “holiday” of people with disabilities.Indeed this day is not intended for mourning, anyway, it is far from being a “holiday”, explaines Armen Alaverdyan, the president of Unison NGO. The observance of the Day aims to promote anunderstanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities. “Some positive developments have been registered in our country; however, this is not sufficient,” Mr. Alaverdyan stresses expressing his hope for a better time when the discrimination will be abolished and all citizens will equally be hired by employers and handicapped people will be considered as capable to work.
