Your Charents

In 1937 November 27th, Yeghishe Charents, famous Armenian poet, after struggling for four months, died in prison. During the past week nobody visited him, because his wife Izabella who used to bring him clothes, was arrested as the wife of enemy. She was sent to Kazakhstan and spent their for already 15 years, after she got married to avoid being tortured. Davit Gasparyan who explored all life of Charents says that he published  a book where we will find a new Charents, all his unrevealed letters and poems, but daughter of the poet forbid him to sell the books mentioning that there are several erotic poems and that it may have a bad impact on the reputation of the poet.I asked people in the street whether they knew that Charents died on November 27th. Although they didn’t know, instead some of them knew his poems, others many interesting facts about his life.  Charents survived addiction. He died in the prison. Up till now no one knows where he was buried.

What do you remember from Charents?
